Students will learn operating principles and construction of complex protective relays used in industrial and utility systems. Vector analysis will be taught to ensure that students have the proper knowledge to use phase shift test sets. Both electromechanical and solid state relays will be covered. Minimal time will be spent on theory in order to allow more testing time in lab.

Low and Medium Voltage Circuit Breaker Testing and Maintenance
Students will learn safe and proper maintenance and testing procedures on a variety of 480V circuit breakers, including Siemens, ABB, Westinghouse, GE, Square D, Federal Pioneer, and ITE. Students will disassemble backboard assemblies, perform maintenance, reassemble and adjust circuit breakers.

Electrical Print Reading
This course is designed to prepare electrical personnel to troubleshoot from electrical prints at commercial, industrial and military installations. Students will begin with one-lines and three-lines, and progress through schematics. Students may bring examples of their own facilities prints to use during practical exercises. Low, medium and high-voltage installations will be reviewed as requested by students.
