TRAINING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why aren't there many classes on your training schedule?
TDS previously had a full open-enrollment class schedule. We have found that predetermining dates and locations was inconvenient for companies that need training. Now TDS has instituted a "Training Coordination Forum" for those interested in training to post their interest in a particular class, time range and region. TDS, through daily monitoring, will match up different companies with the same general needs and coordinate a class between the two or more. Contact information is hidden from the public. After a class is arranged meeting the minimum enrollment of 8 students, TDS will open the class to general enrollment for other interested students.

When does class start?
All of TDS's classes start at 8:00 am and end at 4:30 pm. An hour is alloted for lunch. Exception: Friday class days end at 1:30pm to allow for travel time.

Are meals provided?
In an effort to keep enrollment costs as low as possible, TDS does not provide meals as part of the enrollment. Breakfast (juice, milk, donuts, etc.) will be provided on the first day of class. Water, coffee and vending machines(usually) will be available at every class.

Is there a cancellation fee?
Cancellations received at least fifteen (15) business days prior to any course will receive a full refund. Cancellations made after that will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. If a cancellation is due to circumstances beyond your control, the cancellation fee may be waived or applied towards another course, at our discretion. Student substitutions can be made at any time by calling (817) 465-9494. Registration fees are not refundable after the class has begun. TDS reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a course if necessary with liability limited to refund of the registration fee.

What should I wear?
If you are attending a hands-on course please wear appropriate clothing for lab work. Non-conductive materials. For seminar type courses business casual is preferred.

What should I bring with me?
If desired, the student may bring additional note taking supplies and/or a calculator. Students may bring equipment, manuals and schematics if they would like instruction on a particular model. Equipment used in the hands-on portion of the course is based on availability.

When should I register?
Please register as early as possible due to seat availability – class size is limited to 15 students for hands-on courses. All classes, although scheduled in good faith, are subject to cancellation. Attendees are discouraged from purchasing non-refundable airline tickets. TDS will do everything possible to conduct the courses as scheduled, but cannot accept claims for payment due to class cancellation. For this reason, payment will be processed after the class ends. If a course is to be cancelled, TDS will notify enrollees at least two (2) weeks prior to the start date of the course, if possible.

What are the prerequisites?
TDS prefers that students have familiarity with AC/DC theory for most classes. There are no prereq's for Basic Electricity. TDS instructors teach to the skill level of the students.

What is the class format?
On the first day of class introductions will be used to determine knowledge level and teaching style for the class. A daily schedule will be established at that time. Generally, the first half of the course will be spent discussing the theories and proccesses; the second half of the class will be spent practically applying that knowledge with equipment.

Can I get a sample or preview of the DVD training?
TDS has previews available for each of the six series that we offer. They are $25 each - which is refundable upon return of the DVD(s). The cost of shipping is your only expense.

How do I order the DVD's?
There is a DVD order form available at the bottom of the DVD Training page. It is also available here.
